It as a rather pleasant and quite Sunday afternoon, Minerva had set down her cup of tea on her large wooden desk in preparation of working on some paper work for the next years new intake of students. She liked the quiet time, even though the fireplace cracked and popped as the wood burned, it gave her peace and ambience to her mood.
Every now and then she should take a break for herself, but she often found comfort in the papers. Sorting, filing, compiling, working on a new project to get a head start. It was her safe space. Sitting down at her desk, she looked over to her right and watched some of the paintings going about their business. For some reason, a memory was unlocked and she thought about her family cat when she was an infant. Boy, she hadn't thought about that cat in such a long time and it made her long for perhaps another. Maybe it was time for her to get a companion. Headmistress work was busy, and often meant that she would need to leave from time to time for business - but during times like this, on a cooler, quiet evening - the soft purrs of a companion could make the day complete.
Minerva picked up her wand and gave it a small wave, producing her patronus. The shimmery cat stretched and yawned as it marched around her desk. Smiling warmly at it, she leaned over for her cup of tea and took a moment to appreciate life. The trials she had gone through in her life, she hoped that she had made a difference. Her patronus shinned a little brighter and curled up on her stack of paper work she was about to draw her attention to. Instead, she sat back in her hair, cup of tea in hand, and pondered life.
