The Department of Magical Law Enforcement is the largest department at the Ministry of Magic. Arguably the most important of the various departments, it is a combination of police and justice facilities and is roughly the equivalent to the Home Office of Muggle Britain or the Department of Justice in the United States. It includes the following departments:
* Magical Criminal Apprehension Division * Hit Wizard Office * Auror Office * Magical Law Enforcement Patrol Division * Wand Registration Office * Improper Use of Magic Office * The Misuse of Muggle Artifacts Office * Animagus Registry * Wizengamot Offices * Barrister Offices * Ministry Rehabilitation Division
Wizengamot is wizarding Britain's high court of law and parliament. It predates the Ministry of Magic itself, dating back to the days of the medieval Wizards' Council. Its administrative headquarters are located in the Department of Magical Law Enforcement of the Ministry of Magic, whilst the trials take place in the dungeons of the lower levels. As part of the Office Position Equality Act, all Heads of offices and departments possess an automatic seat on the Wizengamot.

The Department of Magical Games and Sports is a department of the Ministry of Magic. It is charged with the regulation of all sport-related events in the Wizarding world. It is roughly the equivalent to the real-life British Department of Culture, Media and Sport.
The International Statute of Wizarding Secrecy was signed in 1692, and it made each individual Ministry of Magic responsible for the consequences of all magical sports played within their countries. The Ministry started passing legislation pertaining to Quidditch in 1750 (including the first official set of rules of the game). The affairs of the department had to do with such sport-related pastimes as organizing Quidditch World Cups and the Triwizard Tournaments. The department contains offices for the following:

The northern English team was founded in 1612. Its robes are pale blue, emblazoned with a silver arrow. Arrows fans will agree that their team's most glorious hour was their 1932 defeat of the team who were then the European Champions, the Vratsa Vultures, in a match that lasted sixteen days in conditions of dense fog and rain. The club supporters' old practice of shooting arrows into the air from their wands every time their chasers scored was banned by the Department of Magical Games & Sports in 1894, when one of these weapons pierced the referee Nugent Potts through the nose. There is traditionally fierce rivalry between the arrows and the Wimborne Wasps. Appleby Arrows Line Up

The tragic demise of their most famous player, "Dangerous" Dai Llewellyn, who was eaten by a Chimera while on holiday in Mykonos, Greece, resulted in a day of national mourning for all welsh witches and wizards. The Dangerous Dai Commemorative Medal is now awarded at the end of each season to the League player who has taken the most exciting and foolhardy risks during a game. Caerphilly Catapults Line Up

Fought over a seven-day period, the game was brought to an end by a spectacular Snitch capture by the Harpy Seeker Glynnis Griffiths. This Borders club was founded in 1422 by the seven offspring of a wizard butcher named Walter Parkin. The four brothers and three sisters were by all accounts a formidable team who rarely lost a match, partly, it is said, because of the intimidation felt by opposing teams at the sight of Walter standing on the sidelines with a wand in one hand and a meat cleaver in the other. They are alleged to have taken their name from a nasty incident which occurred during a match against the Appleby Arrows in the mid-seventeenth century when a Beater flying past a tree on the edge of the pitch noticed a wasps' nest among the branches and batted it towards the Arrows' Seeker, who was so badly stung that he had to retire from the game. Wimbourne won and thereafter adopted the wasp as their lucky emblem. Wasp fans (also known as "Stingers") traditionally buzz loudly to distract opposing chasers when they're taking penalties. St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies & Injuries Founded in the late 1500s or early 1600s by Mungo Bonham, St. Mungo's Hospital is the primary wizarding hospital in Britain. Each wing and floor is dedicated to its own specialty and practice, with some restructures made in 2005 following the Battle for the Blood Moon. (Site-canon AU battle.)
The following departments reside within St. Mungo's, to better help witches and wizards that get into a sticky situation:
* Ground Floor - Artifact Accidents * First Floor - Creature-Induced Injuries * First Floor - Werewolf Asylum & Recovery * Second Floor - Magical Bugs * Third Floor - Potion & Plant Poisoning * Fourth Floor - Memory & Spell Damage * Fifth Floor - General Medical Practice
St. Mungo's Hospital Board
Seats on the Hospital Board are at the approval of the Head Chief. The Hospital Board is a volunteer position, meant to help keep things flowing smoothly between the Ministry of Magic, the general public, and the hospital itself.
St. Mungo's Artifact Accidents Artifact Accidents involve any object that is not a creature, and a body of some kind to be injured. This is mostly involving things like Broomsticks, Biting Doorknobs (seriously, who keeps doing that!), cauldrons exploding, and other objects involving a person getting injured.

St. Mungo's Creature-Induced Injuries Creature-Induced Injuries are bites, stings, scratches, and any other injuries caused by a creature of some kind. The most common types are exotic pets (some things that shouldn't be allowed...) biting someone because they were poking it. Werewolf bites now belong in the Werewolf Asylum & Recovery wing, due to the increase in attacks recently. But any other creature that caused an injury is usually treated here.

St. Mungo's Werewolf Asylum & Recovery Ward This section of the second floor of St. Mungo's is off-limits to anyone who doesn't have Lycanthropy. Meaning, if you're not a werewolf, don't go in there unless you want to be one! And who really wants to be a werewolf?!
This wing was created following the Battle for the Blood Moon. Seeing a need for a place to recover, heal, and house some werewolves after the battle - those turned by Greyback's pack, those harmed during the battle, those shunned by family. The wing is large enough to house at least 50 werewolves at a time, while also treating and caring for those who walk in and out regularly. This ward is a safe haven of sorts for werewolves. Those that don't have a place to safely shift during full moons are able to do so in individual rooms during the moon weeks. Victims of attacks are also able to recover here in full privacy as well.

St. Mungo's Potion & Plant Poisoning Two separate wards with the specialist's office in the back of the ward between the two, are potion poisoning and plant poisoning wings. Both are dangerous, but anything that has caused injury or illness by either is treated here.

It is unquestionably the hub of commerce in the British wizarding world, with virtually every wizarding business stationed there. Consequently, the demand for space here is steep, and rent costs "loads of Galleons".

The shop holds occasional book-signings, such as when Gilderoy Lockhart stopped by in 1992, and sells books via owl in addition to books purchased in-store. Daily Prophet, Quibbler & Witch Weekly Images Here [/PTab={width:100%;}] [PTab=Knockturn Alley] Knockturn Alley Just around the corner from Diagon Alley lies a dark, twisting alleyway devoted to the Dark Arts: Knockturn Alley. Not only are the wares sold there are a bit dodgy, but the wizards hanging around behave fairly suspiciously as well. From the shops and the street vendors, one can purchase, among other things, shrunken heads, poisonous candles, human-looking fingernails, and Flesh-Eating Slug Repellent.
Borgin & Burkes Antiques | The Underground | Owner: Valdis Vinter | Owner: Natasha Williams | Some way down Knockturn Alley at number 13B - lies Borgin & Burkes, the most notorious of the alley's shops, which specializes in "objects with unusual and powerful properties", and particularly items that are both "unusual and ancient". The shop is quite large, dusty, and dimly lit, with a large stone fireplace, and is known to be frequented by families like the Malfoys. Its proprietors, Mr. Borgin and Caractacus Burke, are smooth talkers known to buy magical objects for much less than they're worth, and sell them for far more. | A night club and restaurant. According to tradition, it was founded over a thousand years ago, around the same time as Hogwarts. It's a picturesque little village of thatched cottages and shops, with enchanted candles hanging in the trees during the holidays. It is located just down the road from Hogwarts and on select Saturdays throughout the school year the village is filled with Hogwarts students, who are allowed to visit beginning in their third year.
Honeydukes Sweet Shop | Shop Name | Owner: Kate McCarthy | Owner: Victra Calliope | A sweetshop, previously owned by Ambrosius Flume and his wife, which is filled with shelves upon shelves of the most succulent-looking sweets imaginable. In addition to the standard wizarding candy that is sold there, the owners also make their own fudge and chocolate. For obvious reasons, the shop is quite a popular destination for Hogwarts students when visiting Hogsmeade on the weekends.
Down in the cellar of the shop, amidst the boxes and wooden crates and known to only a select few people, is a trap door in the dusty floor - which opens to reveal a secret passageway to Hogwarts.
It's now owned by Kate McCarthy, run by various employees during the school season. | A potion shop, nestled into a dark little corner just off the main street in Hogsmeade. The ceramic tiles seem to glitter in the afternoon sun, setting a subtle kaleidoscope of color against the neighboring homes and storefronts. Inside the shop gives the impression it is dark though various potions in bottles, pipes, decanters, distillers glow with a fierce, mysterious light.
Behind the counter the shop owner (and recent Hogwarts graduate) Victra Calliope stirs her strange brews. Customers, adults and students alike, come for her liquid euphoria, flirt potions, and all manner of espresso beverages. There always seems to be one or two patrons conversing jovially in the cafe corner under the constant beat of muggle electronic music.
